Scalable rackmounted tape library
The COMBACK ARION is a scalable rackmounted tape library. When fully expanded, the ARION has 640 tape storage slots with 16 LTO-FH drives. Starting with 40 tape slots and one LTO-FH drive, it can be scaled in increments of 40 (for the tape slots). It is ideal for long-term storage, archiving and data backup of large amounts of storage. The library supports both full height and half height LTO drives. In total, the ARION can accommodate 16 LTO-FH drives or 48 LTO-HH drives.
Scalable
Thanks to its modular structure, the ARION is easily scalable. Due to its modular structure, it can be flexibly configured for any application. In conjunction with the S3 appliance, several ARION systems can be combined into a library. There are several thousand tape storage spaces available.
Reliable
The ARION is one of the most reliable tape libraries on the market. Permanent and ongoing endurance testing ensures one of the highest quality standards for tape libraries. And if parts do need to be replaced, this can be done in just a few minutes. A Philips screwdriver size 2 is sufficient. Due to its design, all parts of the ARION can be quickly replaced.
Cost efficient
One of the greatest strengths of tape libraries is their cost effectiveness. Compared to other storage media, tapes offer unbeatable value for money per terabyte. This makes them the preferred choice for companies that need to archive large amounts of data long-term without breaking their budget. There are also special maintenance models for the system that are not otherwise available on the market.

ARION DC
The ARION DC is designed for large amounts of data in a rack. When fully expanded, it holds up to 640 tapes with up to 16 LTO-FH drives or 48 LTO-HH drives per rack. Other configurations are of course possible. The ARION can start with 40 tape slots and an LTO-FH drive and grow with the slots in increments of 40. It can be expanded at any time during ongoing operations. A S3 head can be inserted outside of the library rack for even greater scaling (width). One full height drive or three half height drives can be installed per module.

ARION S3
In principle, the ARION supports every current S3-to-Tape Gateway (Object Store to Tape). The ARION S3 comes with an integrated and preconfigured S3 head in the form of an S3 appliance. The appliance is housed directly in the library rack. The appliance is equipped with a PoINT Archival Gateway, a corresponding server and the necessary storage space. The ARION S3 starts with 560 tape spaces. Other configurations are of course possible. Thanks to the S3 head, the ARION S3 can be scaled in width to several 1,000 tape spaces.

Special features of the ARION S3
In the ARION S3, the first 6 height units are left free for the installation of the S3 appliances. The libraries are delivered complete with the installed and preconfigured S3-to-Tape Gateway through our Axians logistics center. The standardized S3 interface allows data to be written to tape quickly and easily. The ARION can be scaled to up to 8 tape libraries with the S3 Gateway. This means that more than 5,000 tape storage spaces can be served.
The ARION S3 works with every current S3-to-tape gateway. The solutions PoINT Archival Gateway and the GRAU DATA XtreemStore are optimized for the ARION systems.
